Children's Residential Support Worker – Children’s Residential Home Location: Wigan Position Type: Full-time, Permanent Salary: Qualified RSW: £14.50 (£35,910 including sleeps) Unqualified: £13.00 after probation (£32,940 including sleeps) Sleep-In Rate: £60 per shift Shifts: 24-hour and day shifts on a rota basis Shape Young Lives, Lead with Compassion Are you passionate about helping young people reach their full potential? We're looking for a committed and compassionate Support Worker to join our Children’s Residential Home in Oldham. Your Role Provide consistent emotional and physical support in a safe, structured, and nurturing environment Build positive, trusting relationships with children and young people Promote positive behaviour through clear boundaries and trauma-informed approaches Support educational, social, and recreational activities tailored to individual needs Maintain accurate records and work collaboratively with colleagues and professionals Assist with daily routines, including meals, appointments, and transport Contribute to a strong, supportive team culture focused on best outcomes What We’re Looking For A genuine passion for supporting children and young people Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Resilience, patience, and the ability to stay calm under pressure Willingness to work flexible hours, including 24-hour shifts and weekends A full UK driving licence is essential Level 3 in Residential Childcare (or willingness to work towards it) preferred Previous experience in a similar setting is highly desirable What We Offer Competitive hourly rate with enhanced pay for sleep-ins 12 Paid sleeps incorporated into annual leave this means £720 extra in annual leave pay compared to other children homes.
